Bikes and Boards 2017 #1

Yesterday was the 2nd edition of Bikes and Boards at Zandvoort. Zandvoort is a small beach town, 30 km west of Amsterdam, with a great race history. And this year Bikes and Boards added a beach drag race to the event for the first time! 

The only problem was the drag strip was located to far way from the sea, so the sand was super soft and most people struggled to get some speed. But still everybody seemed to enjoy them selves. Very well organized, perfect weather, great location, smiling people everywhere, thanks dudes for throwing this sweet event! 

The beach race is inspired by events like Chirihama Sand Flats Speedway in Japan and Race of Gentlemans in the USA. 

My GR650 is still in pieces so again I had to skip a race this year, fingers crossed I will be ready to race next years beach race! Manon was on a short holiday with my camera but Dennis Benson was kind enough to borrow his Canon 7d for the day, thanks mate! Loved shooting with the beast. Here is part one. More will follow!

SEPTEMBER Speedway Lelystad

This is the event calender for my friends at Speedway Lelystad.

"Our second Dirt Track Try Out Day is scheduled on the 3rd of September. Get to know a Dirt Track bike, the track & the ambiance. This day is guided by Pro Flat Track riders Maikel "Dirt Master" Dijkstra & Jan Simon Ter Heide. An Introduction to the sport with entry level tuition & pointers how to ride a Flat Track bike on our track. The day includes bike rental, training fee, simple breakfast with a coffee & pastry, a sandwich for lunch with a soda, and to top it off a burger and beers at the end of the day. Limited availability, only 30 entries. Book now    

           

On the weekend of the 9 & 10 th of September Speedway Lelystad will be the Flatlands Festival playground. Motorcycle racing mayhem including a cafe racer, chopper and a scrambler class. Of course real flat trackers will also be present of the grid. Besides racing, the weekend will include a bike show, swap meet, BBQ's, live bands, campfires and other motorcycle related sense and nonsense. A weekend full of quirky motorcycle fun.

How to ride a Dirt Track bike!  That is the question? Our school will try and answer this question. The day is guided by Pro Flat Track riders Maikel "Dirt Master" Dijkstra & Jan Simon Ter Heide. A proper Dirt Track course with tuition concentrating on corner entry and exit techniques, If sliding and drifting is your thing be there or be square. Not for the faint of heart but accessible for most with BALLS, male or female. The day includes bike rental, training fee, simple breakfast with a coffee & pastry, a sandwich for lunch with a soda, and to top it off a burger and beers at the end of the day.
