GR650 update

My brother just send me this pics. Finally the new seat arrived and the chrome tail light and exhaust for the GR650. Can't wait to see it with my own eyes!!! The seat cover is made by local seat upholstery, Klaassen Originals, in Eindhoven. Thanks Flake kings for helping us out with the chrome parts!

GR650 #3

Bought this GR650 a week after I crashed at Dirtquake 4.
After the race I noticed that I missed my GR650 as a daily driver. The ascot is nice but in the power department it's a little slow. The power to weight plus character of the engine of the GR650 is still my all time favorite that I've ridden so far so I started looking for a new GR650 project/daily driver.

This nice example popped up on Markplaats. It has some carb problems but it looks not to bad so far so hopefully I can update it a little and get this thing on the road in the following weeks. I now have 3 GR650's on my name. The Townsmoker, 1 for spare parts and now this one, ha

I haven't seen it yet with my own eyes. My brother picked it up for me and he send me these pictures.
The previous owner payed someone to adjust a beautiful alu moto guzzi cafe racer gas tank to fit on the GR650. Sadly enough it was done very roughly but still it's a nice tank. Although it looks great on the GR650 it's not going to stay.  I'm not really into the cafe racers style myself so I'm going to sell the tank and turn in into a... Well I still have to think about that, ha

Yesterday I made my first ride after the crash and it felt good. Soaked my self in the rain but still it felt so good to be back on two wheels. So now I'm planning to go to Eindhoven next week and try to fix up this bad boy.

Ben Part - Dirt Quake 4 - Inappropriate Road Bike - 3rd group - Second heat

Ben Part took these great action shots of me going over the finish line in the Inappropriate road bike - 3rd group - second heat at Dirtquake 4 last weekend.
And I love that shot of me smiling my face off after the race.  Thanks Ben!

Project GR650 -tank swap

2 weeks ago Martin picked up some extra motor parts from my little shed in Amsterdam with his van so we would have some more stuff to play with in Eindhoven... :)

Friday and Saturday I went to Eindhoven to work on the GR650 with Martin. We started with a little foto session with an old Yamaha tank that I found some years ago.
It looks great on the GR but it's not wide enough so I'm thinking of cutting it up. Martin thinks it's going to be hard to weld the thin metal but I think we should give it a try. If we won't succeed I will send it to an expert to make it right :)

The rear mudguard is not centered properly on the subframe and it's starting to irritate me now so we're going to change that ourselves.
The last picture is a mockup of the 19" rim that we're going to fit. It looks like we don't have enough room for it so we might have to extend the swing arm.

GR650 gets a new subframe at Tin Can Custom

Chris send me two more pics with the chopped fender, I was stoked! The lines where perfect! So cool to finally see the ideas that I had for years become reality. I couldn't concentrate on my work any longer so I decided to pay Tin Can a visit instead so I could make some photo's of Chris working on the GR. Chris had a random seat lying around so we put it on the GR650 to get an idea how it would look with a seat. SO COOL! :))))
Thanks Chris, you're the man!
