Classic Life Cycles

Classic Life Cycles is a very nice new Dutch motorcycle website. Laurens Olijve and Daan Koene started the site a few months ago, they are two young dudes with a passion for old and custom motorcycles. They travel around the Netherlands to write about everything nice on two wheels. Last week Laurens and Daan paid us a visit in Amsterdam to interview Zoran and me about the upcoming Rusty Gold Swap and Meet. Thanks guys!

Happy New Year - Make plans not war #3

Mounted the Rear fender on the Ascot . Aaaaahhh, floating seat syndrome. Need new seat, this sucks.
Than I photsouped a new seat. That was in the end of 2014

So this is my plan for 2015.

Our plan for Rusty Gold 2015 on May the 3rd is bigger and better. Write it down!
More flat track racing :)
Do more, dream less

My plans for for the Ascot:

Make a new seat.
repaint the hagon shocks
make new side panels
paint the gas tank
powder coating the wheels
rewire some wires
new front forks
fix the cooling problems
and than use it as my daily rider

Plans for the GR650
I wanne ride it on the street and in the dirt and I want to ride it on Dirt Quake so I'm planning to give it a Street Tracker make over.

Flatslide carbs
Two sets of wheels
18" in the back 19" in the front.
19" Flat Track wheels with Maxxis or Golden tyres
new super light battery
rewire the whole bike
new subframe
new seat

To make sure this will happen in 2015 I will have to sell some stuff and I'm in the middle of a career change. This will probably mean that I have less time for Bubble Visor but I will have a much bigger budget for my motorcycle addiction so hopefully that will result in doing more and less dreaming.

The Super 100 and the SV650 have to go.

What are your plans for 2015?

Happy New Year - Make plans not war #2

I used my Barn Fresh Bell Bullitt design as a starting point to make a design for the new Ascot rear fender. First I made some Photosoup sketches. With fine line tape I made the final design. made some mistakes. Long story short. It looks better in the pictures than on the Ascot so I will have to chance it a bit...

Project VT500 Ascot - mirror, rear fender, ignition switch, LED rear light, handle bar

A week ago I bought a second hand mirror and rear fender at motorsloop Wegman Motoren in Aalsmeer. I had to cut of some pieces and drilled some holes to make the fender fit. The mirror was rusty so it needed some attention. Sandpaper did the trick.

A few weeks ago I lost my Ascot keys at Goodwood so I needed a new ignition lock. The stock ignition lock is a pain in the ass. You can't reach it when you're wearing gloves so I decided to relocate the new ignition switch to the left side. I made a small bracket from a piece of metal. Drilled 5 holes in it with my biggest drill and with a iron file I made the big hole that I needed to fit the ignition switch. Took me almost an hour to make that hole but I managed, ha!

The handle bar that I mounted some weeks ago was crooked so I needed an other one. My good friend Zoran sponsored me a nice gold anodized Rental thinwall handle bar. I did not like the gold so again I did the sandpaper workout. I think it almost took me 3 hours to get rid of the gold but now it's looking fresh!

The new rear light is a vintage Hella (bicycle?) light that I bought some years ago. Dimitri from Super Motor co. helped me to convert it to 3 LED lights. If I would have used the normal fitting I would have to dril a hole in the fender to make room for the fitting and it did not have a stop light function. Chris Dekker welded the little anus under the headlight, thanks Chris :)

Now I just need a license plate bracket to get it on the road again.

Project VT500 Ascot - swiss cheese

Yesterday I drilled some speed holes in the stock foot peg bracket and repainted the footpegs
As you can see my Hagon rear shocks need some attention.

Project VT500 Ascot - Front fender

Yesterday I chopped my front fender. To remove the front fender I had to remove the front wheel. I used an empty beer crate and a piece of wood to lift the Ascot.

First I made a guide line with a marker. With a grinder I made the rough shape, with a file I made the final shape and in the end I used sandpaper to clean it up and to make it smooth.
Then I painted it black with a rattle can. When I was finished it was almost dark so excuse my crappy mobile phone pictures

Shed Built Bikes - Numbnut End Of Summer Ride Out - part 1

Cool ride out yesterday with the Numbnut crew!
The weather gods where on our side. We saw rain around us but we where riding in good weather  most of the time. My VT500Ascot was having cooling problems. When we arived in Utrecht just before we reached the meeting point my water started boiling and flushed out on the street....Klote Zooi! Need to fix that.  I made it home without problems.
Thanks Numbnuts for the ride!
